You have two choices for scheduling the
senior high level for time and credit.
The first choice is to take a full year for each book and
take more time to practice. Book 1 would be a one credit Studio Art 1 course.
Book 2 would be a one credit Painting course.
The other choice is to do a book each semester with less time
to practice. The publisher suggests that the student complete the art
assignments on the first and fourth pages of each unit and only reading the
material on pages 2 and 3 of each unit. Thus, the student would earn 1/2 credit
for each book.
If this were an elective for a non-art major, then it would
be reasonable to do one of the books and take a full year. Book 1 is recommended
in this case because it is the pre-requisite for Book 2.
The artistically focused student may want to
do the fast track with both books in one year in order to have
time to pursue other art subjects or may want to spend a full
year on each book. If they are bent in the artistic direction,
they will probably be doing art projects whether they have a
curriculum or not. Their input would be very helpful in making
these choices. To earn two credits in one year, the student
would need to do all the work in both books.
The units are set up in a very organized
fashion.
