Mastering Mathematics Curriculum
The
Mastering Mathematics series is an economical math program from Mastery
Publications.
It covers all math skills for 1st through 6th grade.
 The work pages are reproducible within a single family, but the book is designed
to be consumed. You can purchase extra workbooks if you have come to
loathe copy machines (as many veteran homeschoolers with hours of standing at a
copier with little children clinging to them will attest!) The books are
now perfect bound--no more of the black plastic coil binding!
If your child needs to focus on one topic at a time,
Mastering Mathematics is a good choice. If your student needs to 'bone up'
on a particular math topic, you can purchase only that particular workbook.
I have been pleased with the results.
This series would also be good for the older student who
needs to catch up on basic math skills. There are late bloomers and
students with learning gaps who simply can't go forward in math until the basics
are mastered. This program fits the bill. Using the placement test,
you can find and focus on the gaps allowing the student to skip the areas that
have been grasped.

 I would like to see the student workbook contain the sequence
(when to practice math facts, etc) so it is easier for me, but my children are
enjoying math this year and mastering it!
It can be used with a wide range of skills from special needs
to gifted. It has a simple format with no color pictures, large print, and
printing only on one side of the pages. The student focuses on the work at
hand without being distracted or overwhelmed.
