Pennsylvania History Resources
It is required to study Pennsylvania history if you home school in Pennsylvania.

What better way can there be than through reading great books? These
Pennsylvania history resources can help.
If you like the literature unit study approach for studying Pennsylvania history,
then you will appreciate Susan Kemmerer's books. For grades 4 to 6 is the
Pennsylvania Keystones
unit study. Her Keystones 2 Curriculum
is for the junior high and senior high student.
On the other hand if you prefer the textbook approach, then
you should choose Guy Graybill's
Explore Our Past for the elementary grades or
Keystone, A
History of Pennsylvania for middle school.

State: The Facts, A Guide to Studying Your State
By Mary Ellen Tedrow, Laurelwood Books
Use this versatile study guide to study any of the 50 United States. Your
student will study and research the state in order to answer the questions and
complete the activities. The first task in the book is for the child to find
and record names, addresses, and phone numbers of people who
will help your child find information about your chosen
state. Along with the typical items included in a state
study, there are also pages for planning a trip, taxes,
finding books about your state and more. Written by a
homeschool mother for homeschoolers, this book is a great
value. Grades 4-6, though useable for any grade level. |

meaning of freedom in 1870's Philadelphia. An act of kindness sets Josiah at
odds with Adam, the seventeen-year-old son of an influential white newspaperman
who is secretly plotting to bring the Ku Klux Klan into the North.
"The Invisible Empire is the first book in the Century War Chronicles of Freedom

Miracles on Maple Hill
"Marly's father came back from the war a different man. Something inside him seems as cold and dead as the winter world outside. But when the family moves to Grandma's old house on Maple Hill, miracles begin to happen. The sap in the trees begins to rise, the leaves begin to turn, and Marly's father starts to bloom again, like the world around them."

Written and illustrated by James Daugherty, Republished by Beautiful Feet Books
A biography of Franklin written with a sweep and verve worthy of its subject and
brilliantly illustrated."--The New Yorker
This superb biography of the printer, statesman, author,
reformer, inventor and ambassador reveals a Benjamin Franklin, who in his time,
lived more lives than many men together. The brilliance and inexhaustible
ingenuity of mind that fascinated his contemporaries continues to charm us now
in Daugherty's work of perhaps America's most distinguished citizen and
interesting human being. As with all of Daugherty's books, his illustrations of
2 and 3 color compliment the meaty text of Poor Richard. 175 pages, Trade PB,
