A Reason For Handwriting® Worktexts Our daughters loved using this program which offers a more traditional cursive handwriting. This is a K-6 scripture based handwriting curriculum.

One especially nice feature is the border pages. At the end of each week, your child will copy the week's verse onto a border page which has a different border to color each week. A best buy is A Reason for Handwriting Transition student book for grade 2 or 3. Though it has the same number of border pages as the other student books, there are three sets of lessons in this one: manuscript, transition, and cursive. For the homeschool setting, this book is ideal. Your child doesn't have to repeat handwriting over and over if the skill is mastered, and the student can write neatly and legibly.

If your homeschooled student knows manuscript printing, the next best buy is Cursive Workbook C. There are two sets of lessons. One is beginning cursive and the other is regular cursive lessons.

The Handwriting C workbook has two sets of cursive lessons plus the border sheets. This is the book you need if your student has mastered manuscript and is ready to start cursive handwriting lessons.

The first set of lessons in the C Workbook teaches the basic cursive upper and lower case formation. There are 27 daily lessons. Each lesson focuses on a different letter starting with the vowels and proceeding to the consonants in alphabetical order. The student is given lines to practice the uppercase and lower case letter together, then the upper case letter alone, followed by the lower case letter alone, and ending with practicing connections of three of the same lower case letters.

In the second set there are 32 weekly cursive lessons with four daily lessons in each one. Letter formations are reviewed and words are introduced. On Day Four the student copies a scripture. For the fifth day, the student is expected to write the verse on the border page.
