Math in Focus Virtual Manipulatives for Grades K to 5
Math in Focus™ The Singapore Approach Virtual Manipulatives for Grades K to 5
You have two choices for manipulatives for the Math in Focus Program. You can use real hands-on manipulatives with the Math in Focus curriculum or for most of the manipulatives, you can purchase the
Virtual Manipulatives CD-ROM, one for Primary K-2 and another for Intermediate 3-5. From the reviews I've read, they are easy to use. Then there is the advantage of not being able to lose the pieces or choke on them. since they are virtual. This could be a real plus if you have babies and toddlers or if you are like me, not the most organized person in the universe.
Virtual or Hands-On Manipulatives?
Perhaps you already have
hands-on manipulatives or have a student who needs to touch real objects. In each Volume A Teacher's Edition, there is a list of manipulatives for that level. Next to each manipulative is a suggested alternative. From the editions I checked, it looks like most of the alternatives are items that are usually available around the house if you are a homeschooler. Use the list to help you decide which ones you need to purchase.
