Zang Math Card Games
Zang Multiplication Game
Talk about family fun! Our children from ages 6 to 13 are
having fun playing and learning about multiplication. OK, call it skip counting
to the younger folks! My six year old chose the tens deck first because he can
count by 10's.
The game is simple and easy to learn, using one of the factor
decks at a time. Being avid game players, we soon figured out that you can use
the Zang game to play just about any card game--it's just a little more
complicated.
Why? Because each of the factor decks contains multiples of
each number up to 12. You have groups of 12 (similar to the 13 cards in each
suit of a regular deck). It takes a little creativity (aka critical thinking) to
adapt the rules and lots of flexibility when the game is going slowly (we had to
make the rules easier to compensate for the difficulty of matching factors and
sums.)
This morning the children were playing Go Fish with the Zang
cards. "Do you have any of the 8 times cards?" We played a version of Flinch
with selected factor cards. This is a winner! We are trying the Zang Addition
Game next!
